Default DIFF - Birthday....

I am giving the DIFF a birthday.
The pinion seal is leaking badly, so I thought I would change the axle bearings and seals. while I am there...

So here is the plan, any advice?
  1. Remove the axles and replace the bearings and seals.
  2. Paint the back of the axles and Diff while axles are out.
  3. Once the axles are back in and painted, Pinion seal
  4. Replace the Pinion seal
  5. Paint the DIFF
  6. New breather
  7. Aluminum Diff cover with drain
So that is the idea, not having done anything like this before I am interested in comments.... what should I be aware of?

I was going to paint first, but I will end up stuffing the paint changing the seals, so I thought that paint last would be a good idea.

Next is parts list to order...

So now it is parked waiting for parts to arrive... this will take a week or 2...
Diff has been degreased and hosed off.

I am wondering how hard it is to change the axle seals and bearing... then the pinion seal...

Axles were easy, Just pull clips and they slide out. The diff is a different story. Make sure you mark the bolt in relation to the diff case before you remove the yoke and install at the same location. Or, you will be rebuilding the differential from scratch.
