Differential leaking
My 1978 camaro seems to be leaking from the differential, I think the pinion seal from what I read online? Is this a major repair? I just spend ~3K on the rebuilding motor and clutch just to have this happen in 600 miles. Im really hoping it’s not huge money to repair. Any help is an appreciated thank you guys!

If it just needs a pinion seal it is inexpensive
If it needs a yoke or a speedy sleeve, add a hundred bucks
If the pinion is loose in the housing, the bearings need to be replaced, add a thousand
The job either way is not too difficult
Take the driveline off, see if the pinion moves up and down by yanking it around some
If loose stop, put the driveline back on and plan on overhauling the rear end
If tight, you can remove the yoke and inspect it for a groove where the seal rides
If no groove you just need a new seal
Watch a few videos and save a few bucks?
