Default Can I trust them!?

Okay guys. I know Jiffy Lube sucks some major A$^.... My z28 had a brand new Tranzilla t56 magnum put in approx 25,000 miles ago. A few thousand miles before that, my rear end was rebuilt, reusing the old gears, but new bearing. So I was going to have Chevy Change my rear diff. oil, and my transmission fluid...they wanted $250. Jiffy Lube was $59.99 for each service, and didnt charge extra for the LS additive. So they did it for me yesterday.

My question is, Can I trust that they put the proper amount of fluid in both, or should I jack the car up, pull both filler plugs and make sure it is full?? They Used Pennzoil 75w-90 for the rear +the LS additive, and Dextron III for my tranny.

so 130 dollar difference. call the gm shop and ask whats involved in there service and what fluids they would use. while your at it ask why the big difference with there competitor. there may be a reason,,, or not.

The biggest difference would be because of the labor rates they pay...dealerships=more, slightly better than minimum wage (?) oil shops=less.
I always do my own maintenance, but I have gone into oil change shops before to get a transmission fluid transfusion (T-tech). For the cost difference, it's worth it to me, and it usually seems that when the time comes around it's the cold of winter.
But I do tell them that I want to watch, and they let me, and I do. Some shops won't let you in for liability reasons though.
So, would I trust an oil place? As long as I can watch them like a hawk!

When i took our engines (fire dept) in for services i would watch everything they did. As i have to sign off on it. The guy who did all the heavy equip repairs had no problem with me standing in his work area, and explained everything he was doing/checking. He even showed what the manufacture fluids where be for changing. Little pricey on labor, but in my eyes was worth.

However i did watch one of there techs on the light side toss a wrench across the bay(young guy). This is the same tech that cracked our rescue's radiator when doing a simple replacement of a recalled part. We found the leak after backing back into the station(dealer replaced rad free etc after), and yes he still works there to this date oddly(my guess son of some one).

I was watching them like a hawk. I wasnt in the shop. But I told them I wanted my tranny and diff changed, and when they opened my hood, I ran out there and asked why is the hood open? you dont need to open it at all for that. and they were gunna check all my fluids. So i just told them to leave them all alone which they did. However, the guy who pulled my camaro into the bay, probably put more wear on my clutch in 30 seconds than I do in an entire year....reving to like 1,700 rpm to pull it in....he got out and said. "man your car sounds good!" and I said "yup, but next time dont roast my clutch" and he was like... what? I just shook my head. hahah

I took mine into a place to have the exhaust tips welded on and the young kid doing the welding had to ask one of the "older" techs to pull the car in for him....did not know how to drive a stick.....really?? I'm kinda glad. Last thing I need is a clutch going out.

Im sure it didnt do much damage, but still it was kinda ridiculous. haha I mean, if he is afraid of stalling a 300+ HP car, then you really CANT drive a manual. haha
