Default Axle Swap Question

I believe from what i have read that i can do this, but quadruple checking. I am new to the forum, but not to working on cars. I am currently tearing apart my parts 97 v6 firebird for my sons 99 Camaro. the firebird has the performance package, so has the 3.42 rear axle with LSD, and disk brakes. I hope to simply swap it into the 99 to replace the 3.23 open axle behind the v6 5 speed. Neither ca has traction control. I believe this setup should present no issues, but am looking to the combined wisdom of the forum to point out any issues that may exist. I thank you in advance for your assistance and guidance.

should bolt right up. may want to check them to make sure both have the speed sensors in the same place. should be one at the center section.

What is a performance package? do you have an RPO code? Do you mean its a fire hawk? With the Camaro the only way to be sure to get a 3.42 was to order it or buy a T56 car made after 1993.
