I HAVE A 94 Z28 AND THE TRANS WENT OUT AND I WAS WONDERING IF IT WAS ALL THE WAY OUT OR IF IT MIGHT BE SOMETHING SIMPLE.I WAS TOLD THAT USUALLY REVERSE GOES FIRST BUT THATS THE ONLY GEAR I HAVE, IF ANY ONE HAS ANY IDEAS PLEASE LET ME KNOW. FIRST OVERDRIVE WENT THEN DRIVE

Most 4l6oe's have a valve body issue to begin with, then the convertor get's hot and goes to ****. Taking with it sometimes the forwards, sometimes the reverse gear.
If it just plain stopped moving altogether your most likely screwed. If it still moves good in low gears it may just be a valve body issue. There are some update kits made to sleeve them to avoid the oil bi-passing in the sections that go bad.
