Default 1996 LT1 t56 . What is a good clutch you would recommend ?

Hello I'm new here . I have owned several Camaros.
The current one I am working on is a 96 LT1 with the manual t56. It is mostly stock.

I was wondering what is a good clutch you guys would recommend ? I was thinking of a stage 2 clutch. Just a bit better than stock that won't cost a fortune. I am gonna do it myself. Thank you for your time.

Mostly stock I'd just go with a new OEM GM.

Same here as with Y2K, never had a problem with OEM clutch/pressure plate.

IMO you would want a dual fiction clutch. This combines the original clutch material and composites pads to give the clutch a stock feel but can increase the holding power and life up to 75% over stock with a stock like fly wheel and pressure plate.

I would check out the reviews and avoid China made clutches. I would stick with name brands. Mcleod, Hays or Ram. Maybe Centerforce. Make sure they say Street clutches. Avoid Spec or pretty much anything that says strip and is cheap. It’s a lot of work to not be happy with it when its done. Many strip clutches as designed to be dumped not used in regular street driving.

Make sure your read reviews. Last time I bought a clutch for myself I was shocked on how many people installed clutches only to replace them within a month.
