Default Replacing Shock Mounts

My shock mount just went bad and I can hear it banging at low speeds over bumps. I had already planned on doing new shocks allaround, now new mounts have been added to the list. I was looking around at diff mounts. The concesus is that moog is the ones to go with. Is that true? Also when you buy the mont does it come with the isulator? (I think that is what it is called.)

Diff mounts? There is no mount for the rear differential. Our cars have a 3-link suspension system (Panhard, lower control arms, and torque arm). Which bushing are you referring to?

How many miles on the car? By the time the rubber bushings are shot, the shocks have seen better days as well. Since you would have to unbolt the shocks to replace the bushings/mounts anyway, that would be a good time to go ahead and replace the shocks.

Car has 160000 miles. I plan on replacing the shocks as well. Those strano bilsteins are the ones I am looking at. I have never replaced a mount before so I am trying to figure out if the mount comes with the insulator/ isolator.

Since your car has so many miles it may be a good idea to just overhaul the springs too, since theyre probably worn. You could probably do shocks, springs, and mounts for around $700 and it will ride like a new car, plus you wont have to fight getting the old rusted spring mount off the old shocks.

I replaced all 4 shocks on my Z. Front had about 205,000 on the originals. The rears i changed earlier at 195,000. MAde a huge difference. Should I have replaced the springs also?

Yes the mounts come with the isolator. Use the OEM ones, all aftermarket ones including Napa's are not as beefy.

You should also consider the new Koni STR.T shocks, about the same price range as Bilsteins.

Correct, it is somewhat similar to a Bilstein, lower cost option.

They are orange, so color is now no longer the only question to ask to know what shocks someone has.
