Default replace 98 camaro front shock mounts?

I have ordered shocks for my 98 camaro. I have been reading about the rust problem on the front shock mounts. Is it possible for me to tell if the shock mounts need to be replaced with out removing them from the car? Also I have looked up prices for shock mounts and GM OEM mounts are almost three times the price of after market mounts. I have read that the Moog mounts are the best aftermarket mounts, anyone have any experience with the Moog mounts?

Hope you're still around the forum as it's been a couple days since your post. The suspension forum doesn't get much traffic so most just use the fourth gen forum for suspension questions.

I don't think there's any way to check without taking them out. On my '98 I had to replace the pass side but not the drivers.

Moogs are decent, but the holes may not line up perfectly. You may have to file the holes out a bit. The same is true of the Monroe shock mounts. You can also get an ACDelco or Raybestos from Rockauto for about $75 as opposed to around $55 for the Moog or Monroe.
