Post Newbie here...replacing suspension

Hello all, I'm new to the forum scene and am looking for some advice please. I have a '94 Camaro V6 with 216k miles and it rides like a tank. Have been getting replacement parts a little at a time for $$ sake. I am replacing the majority of the suspension. I have new Monroe struts, strut mounting kits, upper and lower coil spring insulators and shocks...all Monroe, ready to be installed (by me and best friend). I am just unsure of which coil springs to purchase now.

I would like to lower the car a little so my question is this...Do I buy OEM linear coil springs and cut them?...how much do I cut?...or do I spend more $$ for a set of "HR" type progressive coil springs????

I'm ready to get this project going so I appreciate the opinions on which route to go.

Thanks

Personally, I would buy springs made for the purpose of lowering the vehicle. With the fronts being coil over shocks (not struts) I don't think I'd feel safe cutting the spring. You may want to take the shocks and springs to a garage and have them compressed and installed onto the mounts. This set up can be quite difficult to put together, though not impossible.

Cool

Thank you MKCoconuts for the response. I am grateful but was hoping for a few more opinions.

Which lowering springs are recommended? If I did use lowering springs, do I have to change sway bars or linkage or any other items in addition? I am aware of getting the full alignment after completing the swap of shocks and springs.

I am trying to decide to stay stock (OEM) or go with lowering coils as they are not that much more $$$, as long as I don't have to get "B C D and E" to go with.

Thanks again for any and all assistance.

I believe you need an adjustable pan hard bar to lower the rear

With 200k you would want to replace all the sway bar bushings and links, control arm bushings etc

you can rent a spring compressor for the front, some parts stores will loan them if they know you good enough. some are easier to use than others. not sure how happy you will be with monroe in the long run. bilstein is a better match for 4th gens and work better with lowering springs. strano has a good spring that lowers 1 inch but not sure how it works on v6, eibach makes a set that lowers 1 1/4 or so thats made for v6.

almost every spring sold on ebay is for lowering the car at all price points ,I would not cut any spring , the cars are low already though if you live in a place with a lot of pot holes could be a problem ,I would just put OEM springs ,
