the car weighed in at 3460 with 3/4 tank and with the subwoofers out. looking to drop it 100 pounds by removing the crash bars from the doors, the air bags and associated parts for the air bags. might get creative with the hole saw to the panhard bar brace and rear bumper support. i think the rear bumper bar is fiberglass, so a tubular support wont be any lighter. a/c and stereo are staying. cant think of much else to remove without cutting holes
She has a spohn tubular k member already. She had bmr a arm but they didnt work with the brand new kyb agx struts. They were also no lighter. The car previously weighed 3440 with all stereo equipment and a half tank. Sound deadening, lightweight carpet, front bumper bar, full exhaust were most of the items removed. Adding an 8 pt roll bar, turbo and needed parts, and a stand alone trans cooler equaled it all out
if its like a third gen, manual windows would only save about 2 pounds, and i dont think she would go for it. im going to see about getting creative with the hole saw in the doors as i replace the window motor this winter. might cut out some other things as well. just wish the aluminum heads were worth the money
The car is 3460 without the driver. 3440 was years ago. There's no emissions equipment. There's nothing in the back of the car other than the roll bar and i have lightweight replacement carpet. Not doing manual windows or steering. Still have AC which will NOT be removed unless it stops working. It's not a full blown racecar. It's a lovely streetable weekend cruiser than can still go down the track. I'm really not concerned with shaving as much weight as physically possible right now.
The roll bar likely added an easy 100 pounds. So only gaining 20 pounds after adding an 8 point roll bar, turbo, and intercooler plumbing isn't all that bad. The battery was relocated, that added about 30 pounds with wiring and mount. I also don't think the sfc's were installed when it was previously weighed
