Socom's LT1 -> LS1 Swap Thread!
Yeah we were able to get it to fire after it got hot with some ether, but it was acting like it wasn't getting fuel and it definitely had spark. We were able to get it running by basically holding the gas to the floor and cranking it, which was causing it to miss and run really bad but it would run at a higher rpm with fancy foot work on the throttle. After it cooled off I can give it a crank for half a second and it will fire right up no problem. I'll look into the brass gear upgrade, I had a feeling the gears were messed up on mine. The plugs and wires look like a lot of fun to change too haha, good old LT1s...

Sure sounds like the fuel pump is on the way out.
If you've changed plugs and wires on an LT1 Camaro, then this one will be a walk in the park. Remove the side plastic engine compartment liners, and you can reach your arms straight(er) in to reach the plugs, all while (almost) comfortably sitting on the front tire.
Look on ebay for the brass headlight gears, about $40 each. Watch the fitment years; 1988-96, the older years are different. Hopefully you used the headlight situation to your advantage when buying the Vette. "Oh man, it's going to cost a small fortune to have the headlights fixed" is a line to remember. A dealer would replace the whole motor, not rebuild them. Replacement motors at $200-300 each, plus labor, and you're looking at least a $1,000 job. Your cost, $80 and about a half a day's time, a little more with frequent beer brakes.

Well if this coolant sensor doesn't take care of it along with the tune up I'll just buy the racetronix 255 walbro pump upgrade for $100 and drop it in. I've done the plugs/wires on my old Impala ss and the lt1 which weren't too bad :P I figured taking the plastic off would help especially on the drivers side where the a/c and alternator are smack on top. Honestly I paid under 3k for the car so I didn't even lowball my friend at all lol, as long as I have a nice cruiser for under 4k total invested I'll be a happy man.
Yes the paint is a newer job done a few years back. There are a couple of spots here and there but I'm picky. It still looks really great, I'll get some pictures outside once I finish buffing her out and waxing it! I think it's the first paint love its ever gotten haha.

Are you taking the Camaro for a dyno tune or just a Dyno? Seems like a lot of guys over LS1tech are using Frost for online tuning. I was thinking about grabbing an extra PCM from him with a tune on it. No Cam for me I got to keep an eye on MPG because it is my daily (64 mile/day)

I will be returning to my tuner for a dyno tune and street/drivability tuning. Frost is close enough to me where I could drive to him, but my guy knows his stuff too. I know what you mean, that's why I have a beater since I drive 70+ miles a day
Off to the dyno on Friday! I don't think it will have a problem making over 400 wheel, and maybe I'll take it to the track the same night to see if I can get a better ET on street tire haha
I will be happy to make anything over 420 cam-only honestly. I'd consider putting a fast 92/92 or 102 on if it would make that big of a difference but we will see.
