Resurrecting brother's 00' Z28
Hello guys,
My brother has a 2000 Z28 that he's owned for roughly 15 years and has always loved the thing. About 7 years ago, his anti theft alarm went all haywire and for whatever reason he wasn't able to enjoy it anymore so it went into storage where it has sat since (life gets in the way I guess)
The car is in really good shape but it's in dire need of a good tune up and more so.. Soo.. Being the best brother that I am, I've decided to surprise him with all the parts needed so we can work on it together and get it back on the road where it belongs.
Im a intermediate youtube mechanic that has been learning on a 98' mustang gt for the past 1.5 years. So any advice, tips, tricks would be appreciated as I'm not familiar with this platform.
I'm going to start with the simple tune up (all fluids, hoses, plugs, filters, battery) and also replace the tstat. Since the car has been sitting, the gas needs to be removed which I'm not sure the best method is... He did drive the car a few years back cause he needed to move it (dumped a lot of octane booster in) so I'm guessing I'll need to check to see if the fuel system and injectors need replaced ... Also the computer needs to be replaced as well since it relates to the anti theft issue.. (not sure if it's the ecm or the pcm??)
Really the only questions I have are how to get the gas out quick and easy.. tips with sparkplug removal (heard they are a pain) and maybe some info on the computer.. Might just get one out of the junkyard.
I'm just doing research at the moment but will start the project this winter. Thanks guys!

agree with Everett get what you can with hose and add good fuel. also smell gas and if it smells like varnish I would recommend you pull the injectors and drain the gas from the injector rack and whatever else you can.

Search "VATs bypass 2000 camaro" and if there is anything aftermarket in term of a alarm remove it and repair the harness back to stock. I seriously doubt you have an issue with the PCM because this car has a stand alone security system If you want it dependable you might as well swap out the fuel pump but get everything else going first. If you know a tuner he can tune out any security issue.
ECM is a term used before computers controlled the transmission. For the 4th gen camaro that was 1993 only
