I checked early on in the project. I think I have 3.23's Tune will be a month or two away. I want to do a High flow cat and a 160 stat to get the most out of the tune.

Cool, cool. Those gears aren't hurtin you on gas either and aren't too bad for a six cylinder's get up an go. I have a 160 thermo in my engine but I also have a big ol' Griffin in there.

I wish I could get 30mpg with my setup ha ha. Even with the six speed I might get around 2/3rd's of that on a good day.

Excellent job and good luck on RotM.

Really nice ride, Gorn. I'm jealous.

29 MPG overall sounds about right. I get a little over 30 on the highway and my car is a lot more tired than yours. Won't a 160 degree t-stat lower your fuel economy even if it increases max horsepower?

BTW, I had also heard good things about Magnaflow cats but mine only lasted 6 months. Granted, I bottomed out a couple of times but not that hard. If you don't mind polluting more, I found that a mechanical O2 sensor simulator works really well and negates the requirement for a cat at all.

yes it will lower fuel economy because colder the air, the more dense it is, the more oxygen it carries, requiring more fuel mixture in the engine. hence why cold air is better for combustion reactions in terms of more power

160 Thermo by itself will drop fuel economy but if you increase the timing you can get more out of the fuels energy to the wheels. The benifits out weights the negatives.

I love the build on this car. Wish mine had the 3.8 instead of the 3.4

Project update:
There has been a huge delay in everything cause I moved. Its been almost a year and 20K since the motor was installed. It is running as nice today as it did day one. I had the altenator fail within the first few thousand miles, in the spring the fuel pump went out. I was in a hurry so I just grabed one from autozone. Course I had to replace that one a month later. I still have the second Airtex in there but I will upgrade it at some point. I did the trap door thing. I have a carbon fiber patch plate made up for it but I was waiting till I get the final pump in there before I install the nice patch.

I never got to do the 2000 brake upgrade. The calipers I bought where not usable. I still have to do a brake job for the next inspection. I was going to just do pads but I ended up with pads, rotors, Calipers and hoses.

I hope to have a nice finish pic tonight. I also got a Hi flow Cat that I will be puting on soon.
