Default Cam-Cam's 97' project

Hey guys this is gonna be my first project so I would like to get a lot of advice from people who have been there. Firstly my transmission just gave out (sad I know) but luckily I found a guy that will rebuild it for $600 woo hoo! After I fix the trans issue I'm planning on tuning it up myself, only problem is ITS HARD AS CRAP TO GET MY HANDS/TOOLS WHERE THE PLUGS ARE! Any advice on easier ways to get them out?

After the tune up I gotta change the in line fuel filter. That should be pretty easy. The other question I have is the paint job. clear coat/base coat paint job? or something else? I'm looking at the paint job to be around $400 to $800 I don't really want to drop more than that in the paint job. The hood and the spoiler are what need the most attention but I don't need the rest of the car looking dull after the job. I'll post some pics of the car once I get home later today.

Tune up is easiest if you jack the car up and go from underneath than to try doing them from the top...especially if you still have the cast manifolds.

A paint job depends on who's doing it and the quality of the paint, but normally, they run 1k and up for a whole car including body work, more if you change the color. When I did mine, paint and supplies ran me almost $300, but I didn't need need to pay for labor or body work. You could just paint the hood and spoiler if the rest of the car hasn't faded yet, but I'm not sure how well it'll look.

I'll see about going from underneath I'll give some feed back on how far I get on that. And I guess I'll just have to drop 1k into the paint job to make sure its actually going to last.

To make the hood look right after paint you will need to take of all that old clear. If it was me i would get a quote at a body shop/paint shop just to pain the hood(should not be more then $200-300 for hood with body paint/body work). Did not see anything wrong with the spoiler.

Edit: might be able to just buff that front bumper cover or clear over it to bring it back to life.

I'm going to get a quote on that. I want to get most the work done with my tax refund (crossing my fingers that I don't owe anything this year)
