1998 Z28 Camaro
I have just recently had my motor go in my 1998 Z28 Chevy Camaro. One of the valve lifters started ticking and I lost the motor at 170000 miles. Now here comes the real question. Has anyone ever attempted to put an LS2 motor in. I have an LS1 motor right now but I am just curious if anyone has attempted this I know the motor mounts have to be changed the computer has to be flashed and reprogrammed or it may even need to be replaced. I would say the vacuum harness is different and the wire harness would be different. The sensors should be close I would say. But I am not sure. Anybody know. Thanks.

Just curious. The LS2 has 55 h.p. over the LS1.
Which one would you spend more time and money on to get that 55 h.p.; modifications to the LS1, or a complete LS2 engine conversion with all the trimmings?

its not necessarily more power now, its more power potential later. There are quite a few 500whp stock block ls2 motors out there, that with the right cam/head/intake combo, you can really get them to scream.

Obviously it all depends on what you start with, and where you want to end up. But yeah, enough is never enough is it....I know some people like that (cough cough). In this guys case, he's needing a replacement engine anyway. But is it worth going through an LS2 swap if you already have a healthy LS1 in there? That was my query for the most part.

It really depends on the end goal of the car right. If you can rebuild the LS1 and get you to where you want to be, that seems like it would be the cost effective route.

I was just curious of how much work it would be to put an LS2 motor in. Believe me I have no complaints wit this LS1 motor. But since I have the opportunity now to decide I was curious how much work you would have to put into it.
