Default Vinyl wrap interior write up

So I decided I wanted to wrap all my hard plastic interior in whisper vinyl ( imitation leather). So I searched the Internet fir some info and found a way to do it that's really easy you can wrap pretty complex shapes in 1 piece with no seems or wrinkles and thought I would share it here with you guys.

So the thing that makes vinyl hard to work with and go around shapes isn't the vinyl it's self but the mesh type backing on the vinyl so that needs to be striped off here's how. Go to scherwin Williams and get a gallon of M.E.K. that's the only place that still sells it I think. Looks like this

brush the MEK onto the back of the vinyl. It doesn't take a whole lot but I dries really fast so make sure you use enough. Start at one corner and peel
the backing away from the vinyl. For big pieces do a little bit at a time. Once
the backing is off the vinyl is SUPER stretchy and easy to work with. Here's
pic one part has the backing on one part has it removed

Now clean the part you are wraping and one it dries glue both the vinyl and the part it will be covering. I use weldwood contact cement it's awesome stuff.

before you glue the vinyl you need to pin it down flat onto cardboard or when you glue it it will wrap up onto it's self. One you have the glue on both the vinyl and the part LET IT DRY. It needs to dry before you wrap the vinyl or the vapors of it drying will cuase bubbles. Ones it's dry to the touch you can un pin the vinyl and start wraping. Start in the middle and work out to the edges. Use a heat gun to get around really tight corners. Take your time the glue stays workable for about 4 hours and there you have it with patience pretty much anything can be wraped here's what I did the last few days

Let me know how that works! I've been wondering and contemplating about redoing the upper part of my door panels in leather instead of the cloth that they are now.

Here's the door panel

It's not real hard to do. The window molding is held to the upper section with some big staples then there are some big plastic pin type things on the back of it that holds it to the door panel. I used a heat gun to heat it up real good then pop them out did the sane to get it back in and the same on the bottom part around the pocket
