speaker sizes
#2
The problem with answering that is because the speaker cones measure 6" and GM calls them 6", but almost everyone in the industry otherwise calls them 6.5". The ones in the hatch area are 4" midrange. I do not know the "official" size of the tweeters

I have replaced the ones in the doors and beside the rear seats. They are the same size, but the rear seat ones I ordered from GM were called 6" and the ones I bought elsewhere for the doors were called 6.5". Bottom line, get the specs for ones you want to order and compare the openings.

One more question. I have read that the speakers next to the rear seats get low range frequencies only from the amp. Should I get a certain type of speaker for that position or will a normal speaker work fine there? sorry for all the questions. When it comes to audio I know less than nothing. Thanks.

From my experience, I replaced the door with aftermarket 6.5 inch.
The new speakers also were, as mentioned, dual voice coil.
However, only had two wire hook-up.
I cut off the OE harness of the speaker and transfered to new speaker and gave each voice coil its own signal - this way I could plug in the OE connector and life goes on.
Sounded great.
