Default Removing seat adjuster button - front seats

I'm going to feel stupid when I find out the answer, but how do you remove the little plastic button from the back of the front seats (switch that allows you to fold them down)? I'm trying to get the seat fabric off, and need that little plastic piece off first. I thought maybe an allen wrench was the right tool, but no dice. I couldn't find the part on the seat section diagram (to see if that gave me any clues) in the parts manual either.

Thanks

I'd have to look at mine, but if there is a screw/bolt that holds it in, it will most likely be a Torx bit (star).

I would appreciate any ideas. I don't want to damage the part trying to get it off. It doesn't have a Torx head or any obvious bolt/screw holding it in.

pretty sure its push on. dam old memory sucks but I think its got a notch in it that if you pull up or down,,, and pull it comes off. I just put my seat cover over it the next time, didn't take off, afraid of breaking.

I just found a video last night of a guy replacing his seat foam, and he mentions that it's press on (which I was starting to suspect), and you can take an angled pick tool and gently open the plastic up enough to pull it off. We'll see how that goes....

Well, if anyone ends up doing this, don't bother taking the button off. I tried using a pick to get it off, and I gave up on that. It was easier to carefully get the fabric over the button and get it off that way. One seat was fairly easy, the other I took a sharp xacto and just barely enlarged the cutout of material to get it to fit over.

It's always a crapshoot pulling plastic parts from these cars, now that they are getting close to if not are 20 years old plastic parts like that often break trying to remove them even done properly. Then there's not a good source for replacements either, you can find more parts for a '69 than you can a '99.
