Moonsoon cassette player
Hi guys,
This is my first thread and you guys have a lot of info so i was wondering about the moonsoon cassette player that i have in my 2001 camaro z28. It all started when i was driving and suddenly FM radio stations can not be played and if you maximize the volume a low, unclear sound will be heard. Many people told me it is from the tuner itself and i really need FM asap.
If anybody know about this please feel free to share.
Thanks

check antenna wire at both ends, stereo and antenna for disconnect. am will work without antenna, not well but works, fm will not. sounds like a good reason for new head unit.

Time to upgrade that dinosaur with a CD playing unit! Add a USA Spec PA11-GM45 interface to the CD Changer port and get AUX and iPod/iPad/iPhone inputs too! If you have the AUX port on your existing OEM head unit, you can add this no problem...

No, you can replace the Monsoon with a single din head unit with no issue. The Monsoon head unit is a nothing special AC Delco. The Monsoon addition is only a small amp, a couple extra speakers and an "equalizer" for Firebirds or Speed Compensated Volume for Camaros. If you want to buy a new head unit, Crutchfield has basically everything you need from the adapter/mount to the wiring adapter.

I had to re wire my camaro because of the way the speakers were set up. The fronts were for low frequency the middle set was normal mids and the back 4inch speakers were mids. I rewired for tweets in the door along with all new mid speakers and 2 12inch subs. And if you do it your self with a new head unit it will work fine but if you let a shop do it be careful because if you add subs they might replace a secrion of the mids to accept the subs.
