So I have painted almost everything in the inside of my 97 camaro to match the color of the car but I am trying to figure out how to get the piece that goes from the ash tray to the center councel (the piece that is where the shifter is..off. I want to paint it but it is an auto and I can't figure out how to get it off and up and over the shifter..if anyone can explain this to me i will love you forever!

Its easy. The shifter **** is held in place with an allen bolt that is difficult to see because it is in the front part of the **** (pointing to the radio). You might want to put the car in neutral so you have more space to work the bolt out (don't drop it!)

With theknob off, simply squeeze the sides of the shifter plate and it will release from the console, then just pull straight up. Installation is the opposite procedure.

lol i dont think youll get any help otherwise.....how rude bluovlh8er lol there is a little allen head on the back side of the shifter once thats gone, its as easy as 1...2...3....and possibly a 4 if ya run into some trouble like a stripped head or something, but yeah should be a piece of cake!!!!!!!! do you love me now??? hahaha i live in ny, im 23 i have a 94 camaro, and love long walks on the beach ROFL!
