Default Child seat, or booster seat?

Hi All,

I have a 1997 Z28 and I want to use a child seat or a booster seat in it. My Boy is old enough to ride forward facing in the front but I have a small problem, neither the front nor rear seat belts ratchet back in after being pulled all the way out nor lock like all my other cars do. So the seat and or the kid is not locked in please buy the seat belt. What am I missing? What have you guys been doing?

Russ

The child seats we had came with a thick metal clip that would let you double the cars lap belt section over and clip to itself. Look at the bottom of your seat and see if it doesn't have one of those clips hanging on tabs. Google child seat belt clip if you don't know what I'm talking about.

Thanks 69, I think I remember something about that, I'll check it out.

I know I have some of those clips laying around here. If you're ever in the neighborhood, stop by and I'll give you one!

Thanks a lot Camaro 69! So here’s how it worked out, your suggestion to Google “Child seat belt clip” led me to lots of information about seat belts and the like, I found that my car has self-locking latch plates so nothing further was needed, just needed to understand how they work and thanks to your lead now I do. Now the Boy and I are riding in style in the 30th anniversary Z28! He was very interested in watching me shift gears, that’s new to him since the other cars are automatics.

Even though I did not need them for this car I see that both our child seats came with seat belt clips.
