Angry Brake lights wiring help please!!

I recently bought a 2001 chevy Camaro v6 base and the car rear ended the vehicle breaking the right tail light. So recently I went and purchased a new taillight to find out that they wired the brake lights wrong. What's going on is the running light is the brake light and it stays on but when I brake it does not get brighter and the running light isn't currently on. Any suggestions? I'd really appreciate it.

Who is "they" that wired the lights wrong? I'd get a haynes manual. There are wiring diagrams in it. Your going to have to start tracing wires.

Your light bulb is in backwards. Just take the bulb out of the socket and rotate 180 degrees. Our bulbs are dual filament (one for driving lights, one for brakes)

So turning the light bulb 180 degrees will do what ? Also since my running light is not on dies that mean I need a new one or since the brake light is opposite will that make my running light turn on or? Thanks for helping

Basically our bulbs have a part of the bulb just for driving lights and one for when the brakes are on. So depending how the bulb is oriented in the socket will determine which filament is on with low beams. (See below) Depending on what year your car is, your running lights might not turn on automatically. Turn on your parking lights to test.
