Default 2000 Blower Motor

The blower motor on my 2000 Camaro is going bad, and I was wondering if blower motors from other GM vehicles would be compatible. If I were to go to a junkyard and get a used one, or a new one for any matter, is there a way to check to see if they are good or bad? Also has anyone ever done this before, and if so could you give me some tips. Supposably you have to be careful because of the airbag.

I posted this before I knew what really was the problem. It turned out that when I took my blower motor out and felt around that I found an area full of leaves and debris. The sound that I thought was a bad bearing was actually leaves. Apparently this is common on 4th gens, and I even read about it in GM High Tech Performance magazine. You might want to take out your blower motor to test it, and clean out the area that collects debris. Its worth a try and could save you from having to buy a new one for $50 +.

This shows where the blower motor goes on the passenger side under the glove box.

And thats where the blower motor mounts. I used a compressor to get out the leaves.
