1995 Z28 Speaker Help
Hey guys, looking to upgrade the front speakers in my '95 Z28 as the previous owner decided to punch a hole in the old ones while taking the door cover off. I found a pair of ROCKFORD FOSGATE P165-S PUNCH 6.5" component speakers on craigslist and I' thinking about picking them up. Will these work with my car? Also, do you know anything about these speakers? I'm not looking for anything crazy, just a solid upgrade from broken factory speakers haha.
Also, I used to have the factory Bose HU, but have since had that replaced with a Pioneer HU. What additional parts would I need to swap out the speakers or will I be able to just swap the news ones for the old factory speakers since the Bose HU is gone?
I appreciate the help in advance!

I just ripped out all the stock monsoon speakers and amp this week in mine. Mine also, as a new discovery, had fairly major flooding/water damage from a previous owned having left the tops off during rain, quite obviously.
I went with 6.5s component speakers, and ran all new wires. I didn't bother with the hatch speakers yet, and I'm only running the 4 speakers in the sail panels and the doors off the head unit. Definitely not the volume or clarity I'm looking for, but it's better than running 2 blown out speakers.
I was looking into it, and if you're going component, 6.5s is the biggest you can go, and for coaxial speakers 6.75 is the largest you can go.
I would just bypass and remove the stock monsoon amplifier at this point, honestly. It's old enough, and was made for a specific speaker set, that I don't want to risk using it. Mine is going to get a new amp for the speakers when I get back, as I'm going to re-fit the hatch speaker mounts to fit 2 more of the 6.5s component speakers (I went with JL C3 speakers). A head unit definitely doesn't have enough poop in it to power that many drivers.
I'm also going to have a little box made to fit in the storage compartment off the left in the trunk, where the CD changer used to go, and stuff an 8" sub woofer back there with a little bitty 500W amp. Just one driver, I'm not looking to blow my ears out. I did 2 12" subs in my 1992 Mercury Grand Marquis, and I ended up always having my bass **** run around 30-60% of max ouput before my ears hurt. I figure 6 component 6.5s speakers with cone-mounted tweeters, and a small driven subwoofer is perfect for this car honestly.
With how I'm doing it, the stock monsoon amplifier mounting plate is going to be re-used for the speakers, and I'll hide away the subwoofer amplifier behind the actual sub box in the storage compartment. I'm making sure I keep space for the T-Tops and whatever crap I want to store on the shelf.
