Default Wrong oil filter??

I had my oil changed the other day and my mechanic suggested a different filter with something called a check value or check ball since then I have had high oil pressure , the gauge jumps erratically and suddenly my engine misses when idling!!could it possibly have something to do with this new filter???HELP!!thanks
(i have a 01 v6 )

I don't know of any filters that have check *****. Maybe he meant anti-drain back valve? If that's the case, pretty much every filter has one now. Craw under if you can and try to see what brand of filter it is. As far as the gauge, it's possible he messed with something, to create new, false problems, to get you to come back spend more $$. I can't see a simple oil change creating such problems.

what is the brand name of the oil filter. fram makes a low cost filter that can fail and mess with oil pressure. what all was done. please list parts from invoice, brand name of spark plugs, oil filter and if you have it what oil pressure sensor. i would first check the plug wires to make sure they are connected properly and in the right order.

if he didnt gap the plugs right or if he hit the ground on the block and closed the gap it could cause a miss.

All screw on filters have a bypass valve that opens when the filter gets clogged. I think your mechanic is giving you a snow jobs. Regardless of condition, oil filters do not cause an engine to misfire.

lose the fram oil filter and see what that does for oil pressure. need to clean the motor to make it easier to track the oil leak.
