Default Wiper Arm stuck

Hi there,

I'm trying to replace my broken wiper arm with a new one. I removed the cover from the old one and removed the bold holding the wiper arm down. The arm should come off but it doesn't. It's is on there but good. It's a '93 and this is the original wiper arm. Any ideas on how I can get this thing off without damaging anything? Looking at the replacement arm it seems there are teeth in the socket. My guess is over the years it's rusted to the wiper bolt but no rust is apparent. Any help or advice would be appreciated. I tried some penetrating oil to no avail. Is there something I may be missing?

Thanks,

Tom

Figured it out. Had to use a propane torch to heat the old wiper arm. Put layers of tin foil behind and underneath it to protect the surface. After about 3 minutes of heating I was able toloosen the wiper arm off the mounting bolt. New arm is mounted and looks great. Got the part from "FirehawkJeff" on E-bay for $15. It looks great and it's raining here today.

Thanks!

not sure if you tried it or not but alot of times the arms require you to raise the blades up off the windshield in order to remove the arm.. but since its off now i guess there isnt much point ^^

The arm was broken off completely at the joint. There was no wiper blade. It was just the base of the arm that was still attached. Thus the need for a new arm. Thanks for the tip anyway perhaps it will help someone else with a broken wiper arm.

Thanks,

Tom
