Default Wiper Arm Removal

I have to replace the drivers side wiper arm, it wont make contact with the glass so I cant clear the windshield. Naturally, the passenger side works.

Anywhoo, any special instructions or warnings for removal? Id hate to strip something, screw up the linkage, or break a windshield.

I tried oiling the hinge, and working the joint a bit, but that didnt do any good at all.

Thanks in advance guys.

are you sure you have the right wiper blade. if you put the wrong blades on or the right ones on wrong that can happen. is the arm stock, newer style arms wont work on the older style 4th gen or visa versa.

The 98+ arms will work they just chatter. but good luck finding those arms. To remove the arm you need to unbolt it and get a puller. Or go to a window shop and ask a guy if he can do it for you.

Honestly I would see if you can get down under the cowl and somehow hold the linkage, I ended up breaking mine when replacing a pulse board... It seems that they just don't hold up. Otherwise just take that nut off and then try and wiggle the arm off by moving it back and forth sideways while pulling up at the same time. If you need new arms..... Buy Dorman - Help Windshield Wiper Arm 42570 at Advance Auto Parts they are $26 a pop at advance auto. I found those by looking up a 95 camaro w/ the 3.4l.... These work great, my old ones barely stuck to the glass so I replaced them with these and they work like a champ, just remember that the driver and passenger side are DIFFERENT sizes. Good luck

Thanks. Its not the blades, the arm feels quite stiff at the joint, and is a good inch off the glass in the center at the off position.

Is there a specific puller for the job?

Just any 2 arm pulley puller if you can't find one a 3 arm pulley puller should work.

Thanks. Part should be in today.

Who was it that broke the windshield, and how did you do that?
