Angry Window Issue

So in March when the engine was replaced, the mechanic also replaced the drivers side window motor and regulator and the window worked great. A few days ago, as I rolled the window up, it seemed to jump off track about 2/3 way up. It would go up, just needed a little assistance. So I took it back to the mechanic, he said there is a part on the bottom of the glass that is broken and the only way to fix it is to get a new window. I took it home and now today it is totally not going up, really off track and my electric door lock on that side is not working. It is back at his shop this morning...not sure what he did...

Thoughts?? I'm not at all comfortable with this mechanic, he took over from the mechanic who replaced the engine and so far I'm not impressed. When he put the drivers side door panel back together, he didn't line up the handle underneath the window buttons either....
I'm a little pissed!!

fire him...if he can't allign a simple door panel I would say he's either dumb, lazy, or both. although these 4th gens are notorious for bad window motors and related issues.

he probably didn't drill out the rivets and restrain the window when he did that. The spring probably fell off of the regulator. It's time to remove the door panel, get a mechanics mirror and light and look inside the door. If the spring is in fact off of the regulator then you need to remove it. It's a pain in the butt but nowhere near as difficult as replacing V8 spark plugs when you have stock exh manifolds

Well I picked it up, the handle is now lined up and he told me not to roll it up or down until it is fixed. Said that there is something on the bottom of the glass that needs to be fixed, sounded like something that may be able to be glued but something is not right..don't know really.

It will be going to a different mechanic, but does anyone have any thoughts as to what he is saying about the piece on the bottom of the glass??

Thanks!

Hey...i understand this post is pretty old but i am having the same issue with my window and while i was looking for an answer i came across this post. Im hoping i can shed some light on the issue so i can find a good answer myself. The contact point where the window regulator goes thru the metal piece in the window is broken. The hole where the rivet? on the regulator goes thru is broken. The best way to descirbe it is like a washer that has a crack in it...so when the window regulator moves the window...the window hops off the regulator. I would think this is a common problem because these windows are so darn heavy. Hopefully this clears up the understanding of the issue so i can get an answer......help?....please? lol

well see, i had looked there first but there isnt anything related to the issue im having...the motor works fine its just the window wont stay on track because the hole is broken....so when the regulator goes up it pops off the window. I started at 14 n went thru 14.5 and 15...then i searched n dug up this old thread lol
