I'm looking to put either a 12 bolt or 9 inch rear in my 98 camaro. The only problem is that I can't really afford the $2,500 price tag right now. I've been looking around and I've found a few 12 bolts and 9 inch rears from 1960-70s muscle cars with a MUCH cheaper price tag. Will that rear fit into my camaro? I'm guessing it would fit with some modifications. If that is true, what type of modifications would it take and would it be worth it? Thanks.

 

You will need to check the width, and you will need to add all the mounting brackets, and may have to modify the ends to fit the newer brakes.

 

Ya might check with some of the suspension parts vendors, maybe someone sells the needed hardware.

 

what about your torque arm older model cars didnt have that and on 93-02 camaros the torque arm bolts to rearend housing

 

you could probably fab up the torque arm mount and make it work...but i'm thinking the widths are different and you'd have to shorten it to work

also what is the 12 bolt coming out of? if its coming out of a first gen camaro they are set for leaf springs while your camaro is set for coils so that would take some fabbing to make it work
