Will this cat fit my car?
Magnaflow Catalytic Converter Magnaflow 99000 Heavy Metal Universal product
97, 3.8l v6. Located on passenger side.
The person tried selling me one that was $411 but I'm trying to find one cheaper, and was wondering if that one will do.

It will fit with some fabrication. Your current cat has the flanges for the exhaust manifolds on one side and the "S" pipe on the othere. There is also a O2 sensor port and a exhaust hanger. It is about the only option besides stock but it is not a bolt in.
Oh yea and the Cat pipe, where you need to cut it, is not really round. It is more like a D shape. I think they did that so it did not hit the floor. You will have to make it round to get it to work.

Actually, whats the difference in cutting off the old cat and putting the one on in my first link compared to this?

If I used the one in my first post, will that throw off the O2 sensor and bring my Engine Light on? I'm trying to avoid that.

I did not know or I did not remember that magnaflow had a direct fit. I check on their site and they did not say much about it. If it is the same cat design as the universal design then yes it will set a code. There are work arounds so the code will not set. The easiest one is the O2 adapter that pulls the O2 sensor a little out of the stream of exhaust.
I also did a search on “the google” For the part number and found the item cheaper. Let us know if you if you get it. I would like to know if it is “Hi flow” and stainless.
