I recently bought my z28 and swapped the trans engine and rear diff oil. first, when im stopped at stop lights or signs and i accel it slips and low speeds. then its really hard for the car to switch into second, then once its at high speeds it accels better. but if i get on it to hard itll rev to the top again. maybe its downshifting and slipping or something.. it may be my rear diff because i used some slippery synthetic lsd oil. AND my ABS INOP light comes on sometimes when it finally violently changes gear.. it also could be my TPS...

 

When you changed the trans fluid what there a lot of black stuff in the base of the pan? Are you sure you got the filter installed right? Verify the fluid level.

Sound like you transmission is dying.

 

no just lil shavings on magnet and old trans fluid. the trans, dif, or torque converter is grinding

If the throttle position sensor is bad, lose connections, water, then the trans will shift badly.

 

That is not a computer issue. Last owner probably got rid of it cause he knew the tranny was going and wanted to avoid the $2500 bill.

 

yea i could see that, but i want to diagnose it right. and for getting the car for 1200 bucks with 138k aint bad, even if i gotta drop the trans and fix ****

 

ok, 4l60e is repaired. R&R'd myself, complete rebuild, upgrades, and all, ran me about 650 in the end. made the kit myself, used a nice master rebuild kit of ebay to begin, then in the 3-4 i was able to use extra frictions with a bit thinner steels.. when i had it all together it ran great in forward gears but had no reverse, so i took pan off and made sure the boost valve was in all the way. which it wasnt. so now i have reverse and excellent 4l60e
