Default Whiny fuel pump after filter replacement

Hi all,

'98 SS here with 45k miles. I replaced the fuel filter today with a K&N PF2100 (as suggest by Rick's Camaros online). I started the car to cycle fluids after the replacement and everything was normal for 2-3 mins. Then I started to hear the fuel pump whine. Quite noticeable from inside the car and down by the rear end. The pump continued to whine until I shut the car off after it reached operating temp.

Did I buy the wrong K&N filter for the car? It was the same size as the stock filter.

Think it's just the pump working the air out of the system?

did you get the arrow pointing the right way when installed, pretty sure it will only go in one way. changing filter should not make the pump react this way, may be the pump is not happy, how old is it

Oh yeah, it's impossible to install backwards. I'm just an idiot - I was super low on gas. Put five gallons in her and she's purring again! Thanks for the reply.

lol, pump was not happy. good idea to keep gas above 1/2 tank. the fuel cools the pump and when it gets so low fails to do so.
