Where to refill diff oil

i'll probably be doing mine this weekend while I got it apart for the steering rack.

just spent like 30 min trying to find out why its bad for the lsd, and came up with... its BS theres threads everywhere on the internet of people saying theyve been running synthetic for thousands of miles in there lsds with no additives.

you are aware that the diff is at the opposite end of the car right

in 96-97 the center section was upgraded from the cone so is more frendly to the different oil.

i had the gears done in my stock cone style and they put synthetic in. two weeks later is was slippin. i realize there are some variables there but hay i havent used synthetic sense.

I wonder why Eaton says this about their posi units, even they don't recommend synthetic.
"Eaton Posi units perform best when using GL4 (or better) mineral/petroleum based gear oil. A four ounce bottle of friction additive/modifier is also necessary for optimum performance".

Crap! Seriously? I thought this was front wheel drive car?

(I mean since it will be on a rack getting a new rack, might as well tackle the other end while it's up there....lol)

Like I said though, I wasn't 100% on that and have never bothered to find out either so I figured it'd be safer to say it's not recommended and have him stick with what we know will work rather than have him coming back with a busted rear. Then again, they don't recommend using synthetic engine oil on a high mileage car but hey, 118k with Mobil 1 and she's going strong. (:

I'll get pics of the rack AND the rear...might have fluid everywhere though...

Good. I like looking at them rears....even if their just small 10 bolts.
