Sounds like you are talking about the CAGS (Computer Aided Gear Shift). On 6-speeds, under light acceleration in 1st, the computer would actually shift from 1st to 4th. This was an attempt at saving gas I believe. The mod simply does away with that. You can tune it out, or there are mods similar to O2 simulators that do away with it as well.

It wouldn't be bad thing to get rid of. I imagine it can get rather annoying. It's something that happens only during light to mid throttle. So under heavier acceleration it shouldn't be an issue.

I find it really annoying...I usually just wait to let it go away and put it in second or don't wait and put it in third. It's really annoying because it usually drops the RPMs lower than what I want them to be at (i.e. below idle) if I do put it in fourth directly from first. Someday I'm gonna buy a skip-shift eliminator, but I'm kind of lazy and there are other things I need to do first with my money.

The CAGS is annoying- that is a must-do mod for any 6 speed f body

Oh, oops...I thought you were talking about the actual skip-shift, not the eliminator of it. But there's my opinion on the skip-shift.

I hate it in my car. I was originally told that it makes you skip only second but now I see I am supposed to skip third as well. To me there is no reason to jump from first to fourth and it is EXTREMELY annoying. Plus, it makes your friends think you suck at driving stick when you try to fiddle with it to get it to go into second. If you do get an LS1 get rid of it as soon as possible. If you don't you won't save any gas, you will probably end up giving it a little extra gas just so it doesn't come up like I do.

first thing I got rid of. however, if u get the eliminator the solenoids that prevent over-revving downshifts are inactive as well, so u need to be sure you dont miss a shift (ie hit 1st when u mean to hit 3rd or 2nd/4th) cuz the stick will go right into 1st at 90mph
