was working on my dimmer switch and found this small black box, i think its whats left of a alarm system.

Sure doesn't look like a "factory" type install. Any name markings on it?
You should be able to tell if it belongs or not by how the wires are hooked up to it.

 

does it have any markings on it or adjutsment ***** of any kind it looks small for an alarm unit might be the impact sensor for a aftermarket alarm is that bundle of wires part of the box aswell

 

yah there is a bundle of wires with some non stock looking connectors. and looking closer at it with my glasses on it has 451m on one side and a wire identification post on the other. shows unlock input, lock unlock, lock output, lock, unlock output unlock. soooo im assuming its a aftermarket remote key?

 

must be why my electric door locker will lock but wont unlock the doors.

 

If you look closely, it will have DE (Directed Electronics) on the face of it. It is in fact for a aftermarket remote, just had that replaced in mine yesterday.
