what would you pay for this car?

The sellers simply don't know a lot about, or don't want to take the time to know about the car they're selling. They see the 30th anniversary tag and assume the car is "special". No, an anniversary is an anniversary. A special edition is a special edition. I can't tell you how many non-existant 93-95 "RS" models I've seen for sale in the past too.

IMO the KBB price is a little high. I use NADA. Yes that is twice what the car is worth. If you had that car to trade in you would have to fight to get $2500 out of them. The auctions I go to that car would sell between 2500 and 3200 depending on the day.
I think about half the V6 Camaros on the net are listed as "RS". Even for years GM did not offer a RS.

Private seller or dealer?

V6 doesn't phase me. Had a v8 z28 for 5 yrs and we have a 3rd gen v8. Got that experience long ago. I'm a bit too old to worry about muscle.

Oh I don't want another one right now. I was just seeing if someone else agreed that is was a bad idea. My husband wanted it or wanted ME to want it.

yeah I paid $4000 for my 2000 3.8 with 92k at a dealer. it had a brand new paint job, mint interior, power windows and locks , leather seats and a 6 disc CD changer. that car is way overpriced.

Sometimes, but not always. Some of the best deals I've made were bought at a dealer. One reason is because they play both sides of the numbers (car being bought and car being sold) and literally "steal" the car being traded in. If you ever think you got a "good deal" when you bought a new car, think again. There's only winner in those transactions, and it ain't you.
Another reason is because a private seller paid waaaay up here for the car and doesn't want to "give it away", plus they may have an emotional attachment to the car that the dealer doesn't. But I'm more referring to new car dealers that are selling trades, not used car dealers who buy their cars at auction or from other dealers.
The most recent car I bought (my current d.d.) was on the lot for $7,995, already a darn good price for a "stock" one based on what other ones like it were going for on the private or dealer market. I got it for $7200 out the door (tax, title & license), which made it about $6,500 just for the Jeep. You should have seen the salesman's eyes bug out when I got ready to walk....yep, he caved! Oh yeah, I'm sure the dealer didn't realize it had a $750 Old Man Emu lift kit on it either, or he certainly would have waived that in my face.
