What the hell is this for
Okay I've been wondering what is that big pipe coming off the rubber duct that connects the air cleaner assembly to the throttle body? I've heard its a "silencer duct" but it just seems pointless to me...
Why all of a sudden so many questions about the "donkey dong"? LOL The donkey dong is not a silencer but a resonator. Its purpose is to reduce intake noise, and does not affect performance. You can cut it off, if you want, but make sure to seal the opening, otherwise the engine will be sucking in dirty air.
haha wierd. It really isnt bad for performance? It seems like it'd be bad. Oh and while I'm on the topic, how much hp would be gained from a functional SS hood and intake?
You can get the same HP out of a good cold air intake as you can out of the SS hood/intake. "Ram Air" really doesn't do anything unless you're above 75-100+ mph, so I wouldn't worry about it. If you like the looks of the SS hood, by all means go for it!
there are a few things you can do when using the SS hood , they do have a heat soak issue , but you can ice the intake and hood between passes and that helps alot, or spray nitrous into the duct , helps by adding oxygen (how nitrous works in the first place) and it also cools the intake duct dramatically.
