Ok my car is really starting to **** me off, I can NOT get this gasket off! Ive tried about everything short of taking a sanding wheel to it! It feels like solid rock!

What can I try short of sanding off the old stuff? Its iron heads so Its a little harder to damage but still.

If I cant get this car fixed soon Im going to drop my work on the Camaro and Fix up my 280ZX

 

I use a paint scrapper for the really hard stuff. Also you might try some liquid wrench.

 

I have the razor blade scraper and the stuff is hard enough to break them, I never heard of using liquid wrench before, I'll give that a try with PB Blaster see if it works.

Does gasket burn?

 

Most of the time I use a sharp wood chisel, it's a dedicated garage tool now. Use that to shave away the gasket, it won't break either.

Ive also used up my entire can of gasket remover on just the intake gaskets so I'll have to wait to get more

 

Any other tips anyone might like to share? Im open for any ideas

I had issues with a gasket when I was messing with my car a week ago... went to autoparts store and asked for "gasket disolver" (as a joke... kinda). guy took me to an isle and sure enuf he handed me a can of gasket disolver hahaha stuff worked pretty good too.

 

I've used a butane torch to burn them off. As long as there is no gas around.

 

the razor is only going to cover lose thin stuff. anything hard will chip them and thats just no good. you want something with some rigidity like a chisel or putty knife. some times you just have to call it good enough and make sure you get a good seal on the backside. thats what i had to do with my water pump lol
