try to install it on the hottest day possible and let it sit is the baking sun for as long as possible this will make it fit alot better

When it came today the box was bigger than I was. The bumper is just as long as it would be when on the camaro. Is this not how they normally are shipped?

no they normally fold them up to make it take up less space (more space = higher shipping costs) you got lucky

Just a fyi you can not patent a shape. Patents are for new ideas, like skip shift on the 6 speeds. At best you could copyright it but they do not do that.

The reason aftermarket parts do not fit correctly is money. A molded part does not alway react the way you want it. They shrink and twist all over the place.

Here in the US we have tons of software to help predict shrinkage but even then there will be some tweaking. This tweaking costs and the equipment to prove the part is right is also costly. When we quote a mold we normally add in 20-40% of the cost for "tweaking the tool". Once the mold is giving good parts and the customer (in this case GM) is happy the mold gets scaned on a scaning CMM. Anytime thru the life of the project the mold can be inspected and even remade to its original specs. Those specs are what GM will not give up.

Most likely this mold was made in Twain, It seems to be a hot spot right now for making large molds. Someone took the dimension off a few cars designed a mold and it is what it is. Since they do not have the money, equipment or a big customer to make happy it is good enough. Its the same way with the body pannel stampings. I have seen a pretty steady increase in accuracy of these "Knock off molds" the boys over in Twain are getting better.

Compare materials -- the OEM vs. that one -- I guarantee they are different materials. Biggest issue you might have is how well it fits. But for budget parts they are a bargain -- just don't expect perfection.
