I have a duralast gold top in mine. Same battery for 4 years and its never given me any trouble.

Well keep in mind that this is most likely a remanufactured alternator, not new and could be a lemon, heck you could get a lemon new alternator too...

Could be. Car had a "one wire" when I got it. Month later when we kept getting dead battery, we put a new one in with exciter wire. It lasted about 700 miles. Then had that one rebuilt about 4 weeks ago. The man who rebuilt it does all alternator work for shops around here said he had only seen the part go bad in that specific alternator one other time in 40 yrs. Then he said "I bet you have a battery from Advance or Walmart. I don't know. We'll see how this combo works and for how long. I like having stuff on here, it kinda documents your journey for reference lol
