If we look at a hypothetical situation of a U-turn on a 22 foot wide road. We make some estimated info like the car width of 5’,5” center of tire to center of tire and we assume the car turns in a prefect arc we can see the outside tire turns more than twice as much as the inside tire. Assuming a 28” tall tire it would be just under 4 rotations on the inside tire while it would take 8 rotations for the outside tire. Now try to do that at 3 MPH with car parked on both sides.
I think your friends are BSing you. I have driven a Chevelle with a ford 9in rear welded solid, Man it works great on the dirt track but try to get it on a trailer in a parking lot you need about 75 feet to turn around and the tires are howling the whole time. In tight areas we use to use a jack on wheels to move it around.

Like i said... Not a good idea... How bout no... It really will mess you up, and they dont know what they are talking about if they are all saying "we have welded diffs" i bet they welded the cover on and think they are all cool... this is a very bad idea if you want to drive this car on the street.
Darn, you guys figured it out...guess something else unique will have to be tried next...
