Default WD-40 damage O2 sensors??

Will WD-40 damage my O2 sensors? I used some to get the old ones out and I think a little of it got on the new ones. I keep getting the SES light. It mostly happens when driving and I let the engine get really warm. I'm really hoping that maybe it'll burn off and everything will be fine???

What code are you getting? I seriously doubt that small amount of WD40 left over from removing the O2 sensor would hurt anything. It is basicly light oil.

I haven't had the codes scanned yet. Hopefully I can get it done tonight. It just seemed too strange to me that after I put in new o2 sensors I start getting SES...

Why did you replace the O2 sensor? An old O2 sensor may mask and issue a new one could pick up. The perfect example would be the O2 sensor after the Cat. A new one of those can turn on a SES light real fast.

Well it's an interesting story, but long story short, I replaced them because my car was acting up, and I took it to a mechanic, and he said mine were bad, so I ordered some new ones. But while I was waiting for them to arrive, I found a vacuum leak and that fixed the problems I was having.

But then the new o2 sensors got here and I had been reading stuff online that said they're supposed to be replaced after about 30,000 or so miles anyway. So I did. The car still runs fine. There's nothing out of the ordinary that I notice at all. Just the SES light.

Also, my car is a 1995; it doesn't have after cat sensors.

probly not the 02 sensor. oil will burn off in the long term. i have used a acetylene torch to clean 02s before and it works to get the fouling off.

Well I just changed the sensors yesterday so it hasn't been that long. The light came on when the car got really hot like if i let it idle for a while in a parking lot and then punch it, the light would come on, but as the car cooled down it would go off.

It also came on a few times while I was driving but when I turn the car off and start it back up the light is off and it stays off for a while.

I was thinking that maybe the WD-40 was causing the sensor to get a bad reading or something and maybe this would throw the SES light until it all burned off and then everything would be fine.
