So my girlfriends 1995 V6 3.4 camaro has been slipping pretty bad.
Went to the junkyard (she doesnt have much money) got a 3.4 4l60e out of a 96 camaro (apparently only 95 and 96 fit) it actually looked rebuilt the torque converter had some pen marks on it
Swap the transmission in, swap the filter, added oil to the torque converter, made sure it clicked 3 times.
Start the car, shift through all the gears, made sure fluid was good once warmed up, it made no noise like the other one, and it wanted to move when i had my foot on the brake.
I back it out of the driveway and its smooth as glass my face is :devil:then when I straighten it out put it on drive it moves very very slowly, step on the gas and it doesnt start to move till RPMS are almost at 3k rpm.... :boxing:
It's almost like it doesnt shift into first and starts in second, so i stop check oil again everything is good, no weird noises really. Put it in 1 and go, same thing, once it gets to about 3.5k rpm put it in 2 and it doesnt shift, and it seems like speedo is off by like 10-15 MPH if not more, put it in drive and it shifts into THIRD gear no problem everything smooth. Just no first? Downshift to 2 again and it shifts into 2, slow down a bit put it in 1 and it doesnt shift into first :sword:
Did I forget something? Is there an electrical problem? (PLEASE!!) why is speedo off soo much? Speedo was off before because I put 3.73 in there, but only off by like 4-8 MPH, but now it's off by like 10-15+
I didn't drive it on the freeway
Thanks for any help :wtf:
I got a warranty with it, so all else fails I have to take it out, go get another and try again :barf:
For all of you who say go get it rebuilt, that's over 800$ she bought the car for like 1400 and the used transmission i got was 90$ (and warranty ...:bang![Smile](https://camaroforums.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I dont mind doing the work just want to make sure its not something else before i take it back and try again

yea I put atf in it, and the v8 and v6 transmission are different in that they have different splien count, and torque converter size
and SUPPOSELY the 95-96 since they have one piece bellhousing they have different electronics inside also

Shifter adjustment? Other then that with reverse working right and if the fluid level is right chances are it is an internal issue.

I believe those cars had a SGS (Second Gear Start) button. If the button is pressed in, the transmission will start off in second gear. May want to take a look , just in case.
