Default Upcoming race.

So, no car hs ever beena threat to the Z28. Ricers come and go and the race is won in first gear. My friend though, has put a lot of money into a pretty nice car. We've never raced because I guess we're too afraid of who might win. But, people are starting to ask what the deal is. So, it's coming up.

Who do you guys think is going to win this.

97 Z28 6spd stock
07 Subaru 4cyl 5spd turbo, awd, highflow exhaust and intake, some other crap.

In most cases these cars are all show and no go. But, riding in it I can say it's pretty impressive. Just wondering what you all would bet the farm on. It will be at a track. So, there's no cheating.

i dont really know much bout them, cept that they come with the turbo stock, and are all wheel drive, and are mainly used in that beat ur car to hell dirt track racing, but being that its a brand new car, and youve got a 10 year old car thats stock, it will be fairly close, and im not sure, but you may be lighter than he is so that will make some what of a difference

If it is a WRX STi your best chance of taking him is from a roll, with AWD he has the advantage out of the hole. But I think most stock STi's will keep up with LS1's so if he has mods you might lose. Also LT1's have less top end than an LS1 so after that turbo spools up he might walk past you.

I was hoping his AWD would be an advantage for me, seeing how he has half the torque I have. I think it's going to have to be from a dead stop.. Which sucks because he takes right off and I can't keep my rear wheels flush against the road.

Is there no encouragement out there..?

From a Dig your dead. If it is a wrx then its going to jump off the line and once the boost kicks in its going to pull away on top end ageist the LT1. If it’s a STI its going to jump out and sprint away even with a LS1 this would be a hard race from a Dig. The WRX might not have as much power but even from a roll the top end with the exhaust and other mods is going to be hard to over come. If its only a cat back and he’s running stock boost you might take him on a roll. If he’s running more and has a turbo back he will probably give you a good run but my money would be on the WRX at that point but I don’t think he would blow you out of the water by any means.

The one you have to watch out for is the STi, the ones with the big wing and hoodscoop. If it is an STi then he has more horspower and you only have a slight advantage on torque by about 25-30. I didn't know it until now butI guess there is a regular WRX that has a turbo but they are only rated at 230hp 235tq. So unless it's an STi I think you could take him.

Its not about numbers. The turbo wrx is under rated and like most turbo cars has a *** load of top end all the way to the read zone. From a dig the car will jump out and have a hell of a start before you ever hit 2nd gear. They also get big power from mods. Turbo back with intakeand uping the boost its probaly sitting around 260HP and if its flashed maybe as much as 275 with supporting mods.

It's got a 5 speed which means it isn't an STi, they come with a 6 speed stock. Now, the '07's WRX's are pretty quick, if your car is stock, you've got something to be a bit concerned about. Remeber, if it's from a dig, easy on the gas until you get rolling, then punch it. Good luck man, if anything it could be close.
