Default Unknown drivetrain noise

i have a 93 z28 auto trans edelbrock air gap intake msd opti and coil k&n air. when going wot from a stop for 5 seconds or so and letting of the throttle i noticed a high pitched squeel, skreech or could be a sucking noise but i dont think so. it happens after i let off the gas and only lasts for a second or two and thats it. in all the years i have been working on and driving cars (30+years) blown a few rearends and tranys in my day and dont recall anything like this. could it be the rear end clutches or the trans?

My torque converter made that noise before it had a stroke... Lol... Not something you'd like to hear I know. Not sure if that's your problem though

that could explain the vibration above 80. par for the coarse. got the car four months ago. it is in very good condition body and interior wise so i figured with less than 100k the running gear and motor should be good to last till i could afford replacing. it all looked clean with a little oil leak from the intake. figured an easy fix. well while replacing most gaskets the intake and the oil pump i found a motor that had been overheated more than once. at least the baked on oil and rock hard gaskets points to that. i am thinking... no more fun putting the foot into it till next years crab opener. if im going to replace the converter i suppose a trans upgrade may be in order, and if im going to do that just as well do the motor,.., right? man im never gona get my 373s from spohn. any suggestions on a good trany i have a thm700r4 according to the option codes. i am looking at b&ms 700r4/4L60 with a holeshot 2000. trying to keep some gas milage so i figure on 350+alittle hp from the motor. also debating between a short block or doing the dirty deed and rebuild the block myself. send her into the shop and have the four bolts added etc. and see if i can get a little better quality from my buck. anyways thanks for the comeback.

I am an up and runner kind of trade-in the parts. So, no, I would not waste my time trying to cheap out this part and that part. I would go to the GM dealer and order a crate motor. I would also send the trans in with the deposit on the crate engine is to have the old one factory rebuilt called a, SRTA (service replacement transmission assembly).

This way, you save all the individual parts you have to buy outright. The labor to have the block machined and all that other casting that is already built in and you have a HP option. It's all good on the wallet in the big tally sheet.

I'm just saying, a car is worth more over the counter, are the individual parts to be sold than if buying the whole car off the showroom floor. That's more my point to rebuilding options.

Don't forget you have a 90 day 36,000K on the SRTA. I am sure the crate engine has a warranty. Can your machinist guarantee his work as long as the miles on your car? Doubt it.
