Turboing my 4th gen
Hey yall! I have a 2000 camaro with the ls1. I want to eventually throw a decent size turbo on it in the future. What needs to be done before I do so? Assume I havent done anything to the motor.
That is a can of worms type of question honestly.
For the motor specifically, what is the health of the motor? I'd start with a basic tune up, plugs + wires, anything leaking?
Turbo wise, you'll need a turbo, wastegate, intercooler, fuel pump and injectors, exhaust manifolds, crossover, a way to tune the ecu (either HPTuners or EFI live) or a complete changeover to Holley EFI or FiTech
Motor wise, you SHOULD do at least ls9 head gaskets and some head bolts or studs, wouldn't be a bad idea to do a Melling High Flow Oil pump also
are you able to do fab on your own?
from there it depends on what your power goals are, once we know that, we can go more in depth
