A True RS??
I've had my Camaro a little over two years and always wondered if it was an RS. Mainly because when I got it, it had the ground effects and the stock dual exhaust. But I read somewhere that it needed RS badges. I'm curious, Can anyone shed light on the matter?
No, you don't have an RS. That was only a 1996 and 1997 V6 model appearance package.
But in 98 Chevy offered a "Sport Appearance Package" option (ground effects and rear spoiler lip) that was available on all models. That's what package you would have, unless a previous owner added it.

SLP made RS packages on the 01's and up, one of my friends locally has a 01 RS. VIN Number confirms that it is a true RS. Since yours is a 99 it would not be possible for it to be a "true RS", since SLP didn't restart the RS package till 2001.
