Default Trouble Starting

When I went toturn on my camarothis morning, it wouldn't start. The engine would turn over, start to catch and then die. Would try to start it again, same thing. Would catch at about 500 RPM's, and then die. Then it would do a bit better, get up to 1000 RPM's, sound normal for half a second, and die. Eventually the car started with some effort, but would bog down when I gave it gas. After a while it smoothed out, but still had some hesitation in acceleration. It would drive smooth for a while, perfectly normal, and then when I'd give it some gas on the highway it would bog down like it's not getting enough fuel, or enough spark. At one point the car died while in motion in a parking lot, shifting gears. I had the same problems again with getting it to start up. Took about half an hour to get it to run, and still had the same problems driving home. Any ideas? Is a 96 V8 with about 150k miles on it, and has been overheating lately. Thanks in advance.

Is the check engine lite lit or flashing? If it is get the car scanned, & that will give you a starting piont. If there is no lite, check the fuel pressure. If fuel is OK check the ignition coil, ignition module, &optispark.

It sounds like you have a timing issue. have it scanned it may have some codes even if the lights not on. Thats what its pointing to with the issues your describing. maybe timing chains gettin wore out, have you run it fairly hard lately?
