Default transmission help please

i have a 1994 z 28, the air intake duct recently tore in two and is no longer able to connect to the intake, i have not replaced it yet but my tranny is having troubles sifting, sometimes it will not go over 30. then if i stop and start again it'll go fine and other times it only reaches 45. sometimes it also rev's severally high for the speed, for instance it was showing 4500 rpm's a going 45. could this have anything to do with the air intake duct or any cables and so on. and also any idea where i can find a new air intake duct

Have you checked the fluid in the tranny? I don't think the intake duct is related to the tranny issue at all. When is the last time the fluid and filter was changed? Have you had it scanned for codes? Can you get it to shift by manually shifting from low to drive?

i have chckedthe fluid and the fluid level is good, i can manually shift it and it works fine, but like i said it doesn't always do that, sometimes the tranny works great. it seems that it works betterif i accelerate harder also.

the computer uses all the sensors to determine shift points and if tcc will lock or not. if your intake is messed up its screwing the sensors and could very well be messing with the trany. pick up a solid elbow for it and find out. i really like mine.
