Default transmission help

i have a 1997 rs and awhile ago i overheated. i was running while water and coolant were leaking out of a hose and eventually it all leaked out and the car was totally out of water and it shut off. ever since then if i drive 50-55mph or above my trans slips. when i turn off the car for a few minutes and start it again it doesnt slip until i drive that speed again. my trans fluid is burnt it is not pink at all. i sometimes get code 1870 from the obd when that happens. someone told me if i drain my trans fluid with a really thin strainer and put new trans fluid in then add the particles if any from the strainer that it wont slip anymore. does anyone know if that is true? or what i can do? thank you for your help.

Trans fluid is a detergent. New fluid will basically clean the inside of the trans removing all that crap thats keeping it from exploding
